How I used ICT in Literacy:
Flip Cameras
I taught the topic Plays and Playscripts whilst on placement and during the last week the children worked in mixed attainment groupings to write and perform their own puppet shows. The performance lesson was to be used as an assessment lesson of pupils' speaking and listening. Therefore, I found that using the flip camera to film their shows was very helpful as I was able to look at them in more detail later on when carrying out my assessments. The flip camera was also very useful as it allowed me to show the children their puppet shows and this enabled them to self-assess as they could clearly see what they needed to do in order to improve such as speak louder.

Interactive Whiteboard Camera Tool
I used the Promethean camera tool to capture images of characters and then use the pictures to write character descriptions. I found this tool to be good to use during the Plays and Playscripts topic as I could capture images of characters from the Punch and Judy clips that we watched as our stimulus in class. I then dragged these pictures into a flipchart on the IWB and could write the children's ideas around the picture.
Paint/Drawing Programmes
The school computers had the 2Simple programmes and I used the 2Paint A Picture programme in literacy. The children used this programme to design backgrounds for their puppet shows. I chose for the children to use ICT to design their background rather than by hand as it allowed me to incorporate the use of ICT in their learning. Using this programme also made the lesson much more effective as each group's backgrounds could easily be displayed on the IWB during their shows and then changed again.
