How I used ICT in Numeracy:
Powerpoint
I found using the programme Powerpoint could be useful when teaching mathematical concepts such as division as I could use the animations to show division and grouping of objects. The powerpoint has been uploaded below.

ITPs
I used some ITPs whilst on placement and can see why they are used within teaching as they clearly demonstrate some mathematical concepts. For example, I found that the fraction programme which splits the shape into fractions was very helpful when working with fractions such as 1/12 which ordinarily would be difficult to show. The ITP for teaching time was great and I would definitely use it again as it would be difficult to find a clock that large which the whole class could see. Being able to manipulate the hands and intervals was also very useful when teaching the topic. Although I found these programmes very relevant to the teaching of numeracy, I do not think that they are always the best way to teach concepts. For example, when I taught the Year 3 class basic division I found it better to teach them using actual objects and sharing them between the children, rather than by using an ITP as this could make it appear abstract and not relevant to real life.
