How I used ICT in Geography:
Google Earth/Maps
The topic that I taught in geography was Our Local Area. Google Earth allowed the children to start by looking at the UK and then focus in on larger areas before looking closely at their village. Normal paper maps although still important, would not give children this same experience, therefore I think that applications such as these are very relevant to the teaching of geography and make it more real to the children. Also, the children looked at Egypt using Google Earth as they had been studying the Ancient Egyptians in history. Again, lessons where the children can actually get a real glimpse into what another country looks like and explore would not be possible without this type of technology, thus it is very valuable in a primary school.
Powerpoint
I used powerpoint when teaching map symbols as the effects allowed me to show the symbol to the children and then reveal the answer once they had thought of an answer. Below is the map symbols powerpoint.
